Martial arts are not taught during the Green Beret training program.

But most SF Soldiers go through SOCP (Special Operations Combatives Program) after they join an operational force.

Although it has a different objective, this type of training is most similar to jiu jitsu.

The goal of mastering a martial art for Green Berets is to neutralize possible threats rather than compete in sports. Because of this, the training places a lot greater emphasis on clearing room and reaching a weapon.

It's important to consider the circumstances in which a Green Beret is almost certainly thrown into hand-to-hand combat. In the unlikely event that it occurs, the soldier is most likely dressed in full, with a plate carrier, helmet, NVGs on the helmet, a pistol belt with a weapon on the side, and other accessories.

Compared to training with a gi, and especially without gi style training, it is very different.

Lessons from various martial arts styles that are applicable to real-world combat are taught instead of just one style.
