Genesis 2:2 (KJV)
"And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made."
Here is a bedtime prayer inspired by Genesis 2:2:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and for all that You have done in my life. Your Word tells me that on the seventh day, You ended Your work and rested. Tonight, I come before You seeking that same rest—rest not just for my body, but for my mind, heart, and spirit.
Lord, I surrender every burden, every worry, and every unfinished task into Your hands. You are in control, and I trust that what needs to be done will be completed in Your perfect time. Just as You rested, help me to enter into Your peace, knowing that You are working all things for my good.
Forgive me for any mistakes or sins I have committed today. Wash me clean, and renew my heart. If I have spoken words that hurt others, I ask for Your grace to make things right. If I have held on to anger, worry, or fear, I release them to You now. Fill me with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.
Father, I ask for Your divine protection as I sleep. Let Your angels watch over me and my loved ones. Keep every form of danger, harm, or evil far from us. May Your presence surround my home, bringing comfort, safety, and rest. Let my sleep be peaceful, free from anxiety or fear, and may I wake up refreshed and strengthened for a new day.
As I lay down to rest, I choose to trust in Your unfailing love. You are my refuge, my strength, and my shield. Thank You for Your faithfulness, Your goodness, and Your mercy that never fails. I rest in the confidence that You are with me, and I am safe in Your hands.
