Heavy rains caused the Sahara to flood, something that hasn't happened in almost 50 years.
For hours, Morocco and Algeria were inundated by the rain. The desert population reports roughly 20 deaths since they were unprepared for the unusual occurrence.
The good news is that groundwater reserves can be replenished, something that was previously unachievable because of the decades-long drought.
