It's not as hard as you would believe to avoid damnation. Some people think that in order to avoid hell, they must live their entire lives in accordance with the Ten Commandments. Some people think that in order to avoid hell, they have to follow specific rites and rituals. Some individuals think that there is no surefire way to prevent someone from going to hell. These opinions are all wrong. How one can prevent going to hell after death is made quite clear in the Bible.

Hell is portrayed in the Bible as a terrible and dreadful place. Hell is defined as a place where "the fire is not quenched" (Mark 9:44–49), "eternal fire" (Matthew 25:41), "unquenchable fire" (Matthew 3:12), "shame and everlasting contempt" (Daniel 12:2), and "everlasting destruction" (2 Thessalonians 1:9). Hell is a "lake of burning sulfur," according to Revelation 20:10, where the wicked are "tormented day and night forever and ever." Hell is obviously a place we should stay away from. Going to hell shouldn't be a desire of anyone.

Why does God send some people to hell, and why does hell even exist? According to the Bible, once the devil and the fallen angels rebelled against God, He "prepared" hell for them (Matthew 25:41).

The same eternal fate that befalls the devil and fallen angels awaits those who reject God's offer of repentance.

All sin is ultimately directed against God (Psalm 51:4), and as God is infinitely holy and deserving of obedience, transgressions against Him are punishable by an endless punishment. God's holy and righteous demands for justice are carried out in hell. God condemns sin and everyone who disobeys Him to hell. According to the Bible, we are all sinners (Ecclesiastes 7:20; Romans 3:10–23). We are all deserving of hell since we are sinners.

How, therefore, do we avoid hell? An endless payment must be paid since only an infinite penalty is adequate. That cost was determined by God Himself. In the Person of Jesus Christ, God took on human characteristics (John 1:1, 14). God lived among us, taught us, and healed us in Jesus Christ, but those were not His primary purposes. In order to die for us, God took in human form. Jesus died on the cross as God in human form. As God, He paid the complete payment for our sins through His holy, blameless death, which had infinite worth (1 John 2:2). The value of Jesus' sacrifice is demonstrated by His resurrection on the third day.

God now extends an invitation to accept Jesus as Savior, believing that His death will atone for all of our sins. God guarantees salvation to everybody who trusts in Jesus alone as the Savior (John 14:6) and believes in Him (John 3:16). In other words, a person who believes in Christ will not burn in hell.

According to 2 Peter 3:9, God does not want anyone to burn in hell. God made the ultimate, ideal, and sufficient sacrifice on our behalf because of this. You must accept Jesus as your Savior if you wish to avoid hell. That is all there is to it. Declare to God that you acknowledge your sinfulness and that you are deserving of hell.

Express your faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior to God. Give thanks to God for saving you and saving you from hell. Simply having faith in Jesus Christ as Savior will keep you out of hell.
