Over 50 people were killed and close to 70 more were injured when a suicide bomber struck in Pakistan on Friday to mark the birthday of the prophet Muhammad.
According to ABC News, the event happened during a procession from the mosque to commemorate the birth of the prophet Mawlid an-Nabi in the Baluchistan province's Mastung region. Around 500 individuals were present when the explosion occurred at the start of the march.

Despite shooting and killing one suicide bomber, another suspect entered the mosque and detonated his explosives, according to Shah Raz Khan, a local police officer. Then, while roughly 40 worshipers—most of whom were police officers—were present, the mosque fell.

Both suspects had attempted to attack a police station without success. "The people of Pakistan deserve to come together and celebrate their faith without having to worry about terrorist assaults like the ones that occurred today in Balochistan and KP. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims and victims. Donald Blome, the U.S. ambassador to Pakistan, tweeted that "we will continue to stand with Pakistan in the face of these vicious attacks."
