Three Invocations for a Fresh Start
God's Word is powerful when prayed. When you pray a prayer for new beginnings, you agree with God’s Word and proclaim truth. The enemy wants you to believe that you are defined by your past behaviors. But when you declare in God's Word that you are a new creation in Jesus, you pray and fight from a position of truth established by the world's Creator.
1. A Prayer to Postpone the Old Galatians 2:20, Colossians 3:9-10, Revelation 21:4-5
“Father God, I come before Your throne today and recognize that the old me died with Jesus. According to your Word, Christ lives in me and I was crucified with him.
You saved me from the grip of sin and my history. Because of the truth of Your promises, Jesus, I shall take pride in You. "The old has died," you assure me. You guarantee that all suffering will be eliminated. You have freed me from my previous ways of thinking and doing, allowing me to live abundantly in You and consider things from above. Today, I declare that I will not follow the flesh. I die for myself. I put the new me—the one made in You—on top of the old.
2. Asking for Newness through Prayer 2 Peter 3:13, Isaiah 43:18–19, and Isaiah 65:17
"I come to You now, Father God, and I declare that You have created me from scratch. Remind me of this fact all day long. I am grateful that you have created rivers in the desert and highways in the wilderness. As promised in Your Word, Lord, I eagerly await the day You establish a new heaven and world where righteousness shall reign. Lord God, you no longer recall my former ways because of Jesus. The new me is alive, and the old me has been crucified. You are doing something new in my life, and I am yours. I can't wait to see what you have in store for me today.
3. Prayer of Praise | Psalm 118:24, Ephesians 4:22–24, Lamentations 3:22–24, and Ezekiel 36:26
"I thank You, Father God, for a new beginning and a fresh start. According to Your Word, Your compassions never cease and Your mercies are fresh every day. I declare that You are my portion, and I thank You for Your faithfulness! Thank you, Lord, for creating me as a fresh creation and for giving me a new year and spirit. Because of Your love, grace, and mercy, I am rejuvenated and revitalized because You have given me a heart where Your Spirit resides. I give thanks to the Lord for redeeming me and establishing me in Christ Jesus' genuine righteousness and holiness in accordance with Your purposes. I'm grateful for this fresh day. I will be happy and ecstatic!
