Unknown gunmen have attacked players of Sunshine Stars Football Club on their way to Benin, the Edo State capital.
The team was traveling to honor match day 13 of the Nigeria Premier Football League. They were to face Bendel Insurance of Benin on Thursday when the attack occurred.
The attack occurred along the Benin-Ore way and the ball boy to the team was shot.
It was gathered that the team manager and some other members of the management team were injured rushed to a nearby hospital.
At the time of this report, it’s uncertain whether players were among the injured.
