Sometimes why you respond to opposition is FEAR. Not being confident in God, in what He said about you and in the purpose He gave you.
He told Joshua:
Have I could commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified or dismayed (intimidated), for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”*

All you will be, your greatness, value and relevance are tied to your divine purpose.
Not in trying to be what they say, what they think or trying to make yourself like them.
Whatever is worth living for is worth dying for. Live and die for your purpose not for these frivolities and vanities which mortals are craving.
Embrace your purpose with everything in you and every opposition will turn to opportunity
