You can choose from a variety of pre-made Apple wallpapers on your iPhone to use as the background for your Home Screen and Lock Screen. However, selecting a picture from your own collection might help you express yourself more effectively, create a more personal connection, and give your phone a more distinctive appearance. Auto-rotate your personal photographs every day, every hour, when locked, or when pressed to optimize these effects.

With iOS 16, Apple introduced the ability for photo-shuffling Lock Screen and Home Screen backgrounds, and the feature has only gotten better. Since iOS 17.1, for instance, you can select an album to utilize as a source of photographs rather than relying solely on the pre-selected photos of people, animals, places, and landscapes.

Your device has to have iCloud Photos enabled and be running the most recent version of iOS in order to be fully compatible. A smooth transition between wallpapers depends on this synchronization, particularly whether you're utilizing your own images or a well chosen selection from the internet.

First Step

Launch the Wallpaper Selector.
It's simple to set up Photo Shuffle for your iPhone's background. To access the wallpaper picker, first long-press or tap and hold your current wallpaper in the Notification Center or Lock Screen. Then, tap the plus (+) button [see the first image below]. Alternatively, select Settings –> Wallpaper –> Add New Wallpaper [see the second picture below].

Select Which Pictures to Shuffle
Next, select "Photo Shuffle" from the menu in the upper row. Additionally, you may choose to view all featured photographs, only featured nature photos, or only featured people by scrolling down to the Photo Shuffle section.

Select Which Pictures to Shuffle
Next, select "Photo Shuffle" from the menu in the upper row. Additionally, you may choose to view all featured photographs, only featured nature photos, or only featured people by scrolling down to the Photo Shuffle section.

To include in the rotation, choose or deselect any of the following four featured categories: People, Pets, Nature, and Cities [first image below]. To add or delete contacts from the mix, press the blue "1 Person" or "[#] People" text next to the selected "People" group.
Select "Album" and then, if you don't want to keep with Favorites, hit "Favorites" next to it to select a specific album from your library [second image below].
If you want to be sure that certain photographs from your library don't get up on your Lock Screen or Home Screen that you don't want other people to see, tap the "Select Photos Manually" button at the bottom. Up to 50 photos can be selected for Photo Shuffle. Press "Add" once everything has been chosen (additional pictures can always be added later) [see third image below].
