Since Jesus' ascension, Bible-believing Christians have been anxiously anticipating the Rapture, which will be an astonishing fulfillment of biblical prophecy.

Some Christians, especially those of American evangelicalism, believe in the Rapture, an end-time event that takes place.

But suppose for a moment that these are the final days. So, what? What is a Christian to do? Thankfully, the apostle Peter provides us with a simple solution to this dilemma. When writing specifically about the end of the age, when "the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, [and] both the earth and the works therein shall be consumed," Peter does not advise Christians to flee to the hills, adopt a "fortress mentality," and begin stockpiling food and weapons. Instead, he challenges them with the question, "Since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons must you be in holy conduct and godliness, longing for and searching for accelerating the arrival of God's day, for which the sky will burn up and dissolve and the elements will melt under intense heat? (II Peter 3:1–2 KJV)

Peter believes that the one thing that end-time Christians are expected to do is live holy lives and help others whenever and wherever they can. They must carry out God's works "while it is day" (John 9:4). When Paul wrote to the Galatians, "Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith" (Galatians 6:10), he seems to have been thinking along similar lines.
