YOU ARE DIFFERENT (2)
EPHESIANS 4:25-36.
17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking.
18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.
19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed.
20 That, however, is not the way of life you learned
21 when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus.
22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;
23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds;
24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
MEDITATION SCRIPTURE:
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs that it may benefit those who listen (Ephesians 4:29).
Yesterday, on this same topic we saw from the scriptures that we have been translated from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light that is why we are different in this our new kingdom we don't speak as the world does. The command is *Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouth.* There are so many sins as recorded in the scripture. Though the tongue is one of the smallest organs of the body, if it is not brought under the control of the Holy Spirit, it can ruin the whole body. James says,
And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity, so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body and sets on fire the course of nature, and it is set on fire of hell (James 3:6).
In the passion translation of the Bible this verse reads thus, *And the tongue is a fire, it can be compared to the sum total of wickedness and is the most dangerous part of our human body, it corrupts the entire body and is a hellish flame, it releases a fire that can burn throughout the course of human existence (James 3:6 TPT).*
This description fits the unregenerated tongue. As a child of God, you must be different in the way you use your tongue. Slander, evil speaking, backbiting, jesting and all forms of vulgar language should not proceed from the regenerated tongue. Yes a Christian should possess a sense of humour but dirty and immoral jokes are sinful. Our tongue is an instrument of praise and worship to the Lord, it should not be used to glorify Satan.

PRAYER:
Father, I bring my tongue under the control of Your Spirit; take control in Jesus name, Amen.
