Iran Eases Internet Restrictions, Reopens WhatsApp
In a sign of easing censorship, Iran has lifted the ban on WhatsApp and the Google Play Store, allowing citizens to once again access the messaging app.
President Massud Peseschkian, who assumed office about six months ago, had promised to end the strict internet restrictions that were imposed after the 2022 protests.
Despite many Iranians circumventing the bans with VPNs, the lifting of these restrictions marks a win for those advocating for internet freedom in the country.
